Anti-Corruption

Lebanon’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2020-2025 (NACS) was developed through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder process led by the Ministerial Anti-Corruption Committee and its supporting technical committee, both established in December 2011. The Strategy was developed in consultation with ministers, members of parliament, judges, public sector officials, and representatives of the civil society and private sector, and it draws on the expertise, comparative experiences, and technical support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Vision

A prosperous society prevailing in the principles of the rule of law and fostered by the values of integrity under a democratic, fair and transparent state, which manages the affairs of the country and invests its wealth in a way that meets the requirements of development, quality and modernity.

Mission

Protecting public money and public affairs from corruption in a manner that protects the rights of citizens and provides them with a decent livelihood, and by the concerted efforts of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities and the participation of public administrations and institutions, municipalities, unions, civil society, the private sector and the media.

Alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Grounded in research, stakeholder input, and comparative international practice, the NACS aligns closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity across public institutions. Each of these three core goals directly contributes to advancing SDG 16, with each working toward specific targets:
